The wait is over — the tenth annual Global Energy Talent Index (GETI) report is now live, marking a major milestone for the world’s most comprehensive study of workforce trends across the global energy industry.

James Allen appointed CEO of Airswift

Jan 22, 2026 - Houston, TX - James Allen has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, effective January 23, 2026.

Allen, who most recently served as Chief Operating Officer, succeeds Janette Marx, who is stepping down after 11 years of dedicated leadership to pursue another CEO opportunity.

Allen has been with Airswift for over 25 years, having joined as a recruitment consultant before progressing to COO. During his tenure, he has led operations across all key regions, driving operational excellence, strengthening customer relationships, and delivering sustainable growth.

He has also played a central leadership role in the group’s successful merger and acquisition activity over the past two decades. His appointment marks a confident step in Airswift’s long‑term growth strategy as the business continues to expand internationally under his leadership.

I am incredibly proud to step into the role of CEO at such a pivotal moment in Airswift’s journey. Having been part of the business for more than 20 years, I’ve seen first-hand the strength of our culture, the depth of our expertise and the dedication of our people.

Airswift supports first cross‑regional work permit recognition in China

A breakthrough in cross-regional work compliance

Led by Country Manager, Lexi Mao, Airswift China worked closely with the Jing’an District Government (Shanghai) and the Nantong Municipal Government to complete a mutual recognition registration for an expatriate contractor for SBM.

This enabled the contractor - who holds a Shanghai-issued work permit - to legally begin work in Nantong without cancelling his current permit.

This breakthrough establishes a long‑term pathway for seamless mobility between the two cities, creating a foundation for many more cases in the future.

What normally takes over a month was completed in one day.

This accelerated approval:

Eliminated administrative downtime
Avoided costly project delays
Ensured the contractor could begin work immediately
Maintained full compliance with both municipal authorities

Traditionally, expatriates in China must hold a work permit issued by the same locality in which they physically work. Any change in work location typically requires:

Cancelling the existing work and residence permits
Restarting a full application in the new city
Enduring a lengthy 35 to 40-day processing timeline
